Every single brand has a different commission rate. So Amazon’s will go up to 10% depending on how many products you sell in a month. But some brands will only do 5%, and some will do 50. Some will do 20. So you’ll have to look in the terms and conditions of that advertiser to see what kind of commission they get and whether you want to work with them or not.

(For the newbies) – A “cookie” is a tracking method.  If a company has a 60-day cookie, it means that if I click on your affiliate link and go to that site but don't purchase anything during that visit, I can go to that website directly (without using your link again) and if I make a purchase within 60 days, it will credit to you.  This cookie is only good on the device I initially use your link on.  So if I first click through your link on my phone, but then go home and visit the website directly from my computer, the cookie isn't tracking it because the cookie was on my phone.

According to eBizMBA, Twitter has more than 3 hundred million estimated unique monthly visitors. If you’re feeling disappointed with Facebook, I have good news for you! On Twitter, you can tweet every 15 minutes – that’s an average lifespan of a tweet. In fact, it’s recommended to tweet no less than five or ten times every day. But the general rule still stands – you can’t expect to make money on Twitter by tweeting sales pitches every 15 minutes – you need to build a relationship. And after you establish a Twitter presence, you can link to relevant affiliate offers without having to worry about getting unfollowed or blocked.
Though a large following doesn’t guarantee a profitable experience, it generally holds true that the larger an audience the greater your revenue potential on Twitter. If they decide to re-tweet your helpful advice, all of their followers will see it. Simply sending @Messages can help give you a ton of exposure and you get to help people at the same time. A win-win.

It will only take a little bit of time to make great videos and start growing your following. Heck, if you’re super shy and don’t want your face on camera, you can just use a PowerPoint presentation and narrate a presentation for your audience. Previously known as Affiliate Window but now officially referred to as “AWIN” after acquiring Zanox a few years ago, this network claims to work with over 13,000 active advertisers and 100,000 publishers (affiliates). Founded in Germany, AWIN’s merchants primarily hail from Europe (especially Great Britain) although the U.S. network is growing rapidly. AWIN is currently active in 11 countries.


You have to remember that on Twitter, you only have 140 characters to work with. (At least for now–who knows what will happen with this 280 character limit in the works.) Your link takes up 23 characters of your tweet, even when you don’t use a link shortener, so you have 117 to say what you want to about the product and disclose that it’s an affiliate link. So you need to be short, sweet, and to the point.

This is a fairly general Twitter tip but it applies to affiliate marketing. If you’re going to promote a product on Twitter make sure it’s highly useful to your followers. This is connected to being relevant – but goes beyond it. I find that the more useful my Twittering is the more positive feedback I get from followers. The same is true from blogging and interestingly enough it applies to the products I’ve promoted over the years. The best feedback that I can possibly get after an affiliate product campaign is from someone who bought the product and thanks me for recommending it because they found it useful. To me this is the ultimate feedback because it means I’ve not only made a little money, but more importantly I have a reader who is happy, who remains loyal and who is perhaps even more loyal than they were before I made the recommendation. This really comes down to smart selection of products to recommend – make sure that they are the best!
