You’ll realize that attributing commission directly to a specific link is difficult to do, so to gain the insights that will help you best optimize your campaign, you need to be clever. One way is to test a single variation per week – for example only post photos to Facebook at 3pm, then measure the commission earned that for week. The following week do the same, but post at 3pm on Twitter. You could also use bit.ly links to track the click-throughs on social networks that otherwise don’t provide you with these insights (I’m looking at you, Twitter). One of the things that I noticed earlier in the week about those who were promoting the affiliate product on Twitter (an AdSense tips product) was that quite a few of them were not normally writing about anything to do with AdSense. Adding a link to an affiliate product that has little to do with what you normally write about on Twitter is not smart. For starters it won’t convert and secondly it potentially will annoy your readers. If you’re going to directly promote products from Twitter make sure they are relevant to the followers you have.
You’ve probably heard this a million times, but it’s worth reiterating. I still see square pins all the time on Pinterest. With affiliate pins, I make my pins longer than usual so that they stand out. My pins are typically somewhere between 735 x 1250 and 735 x 1400. I also experiment with smaller pins (600 x 900), and they do well too. There is no set rule for the exact dimensions your pins should be. Just make sure they are vertical. I use both PicMonkey and Canva to create my pins. PicMonkey has an edge over Canva in terms of features.

That being said, LinkConnector’s platform looks and feels outdated and is rather clumsily designed. Their dashboard also makes it difficult to find “hot” products or compare conversion rates, leaving affiliates somewhat in the dark about which products to choose. Ironically, despite their low-quality website, they offer some of the best customer service in the affiliate space.
They use all the main social media networks, but their Instagram practice is a great example. With beautiful travel pictures from around the world, you only need to spend 5 minutes on their profile before you want to go to their site and search for a cheap trip abroad. Not only does their feed look pretty, it’s very effective at getting you to click right through to their website once you see what you’re missing.

Collaborating with the right affiliates can make your brand visible you larger audiences and drive quality leads to you risk-free. On the other hand, you can ask your existing clients to promote your products in exchange for a reward. Another obvious flaw in many of the tweets that we saw in the example mentioned in the previous post were that they were identical to everyone else’s. We saw Joel Comm set up a system where he pre-populated tweets with a script that simply told those reading it to go download a product. Joel actually stopped by my previous post and reflected (among other things) that those who personalized their messages converted better than those who did not. I think this says a lot. A personal recommendation is going to get a much better response in terms of actual conversions and it is far less likely to hurt your relationship with your followers as the tweet will be in your voice and hopefully out of your experience with the product.
