Hi, just to let you know that I had a conversation with customer service at Amazon.com and they only allow direct links to Facebook, Twitter and Youtube at the moment and I asked about Pinterest and the answer is no you can’t link directly to an Amazon product, you need to go via your own website or blog. If they catch you doing that, your account will be closed as it is against their TOS.
Re-sharing content from people in your existing network helps deepen engagement with them. Valuable followers are active followers. Additionally, you help them by sharing their content with your network. In the future, those people in your network whose content you have shared will be more likely to share your content in return. After promoting thought leaders and other members of your network, you can share a self-promotional item with confidence that your audience will receive it well.
You can benefit from social media in two ways: by promoting the content which you create or putting links directly in your social media posts. Chances are you already use social media to promote your blog or website (if not — what are you waiting for?) But let’s face it – in this day and age people don’t always want to click a link to go to a website where you have to click more links. Nearly 50% of affiliate-referred traffic originates from a mobile device. And you know better than me, most of the time on your phone you’re checking Twitter or Instagram, not reading lengthy blog posts.

Given that I am still in reading and preparation phase, I am mainly interested to overlap my niche with real life interests so I could have motivation to produce content on regular basis. Two that I am highly interested are PC parts and Fitness. I am aware they are too general subjects with lot of sites doing the same, but my idea is to produce constant review on PC parts, Laptops, Mobile devices, Accessories all in different categories, create lists like top5 or 10 under XX budget etc. Similar approach I would use if I I decide to go with Fitness path and divide content training advice, review of fat loss methods, supplementation, nutrition etc. I am aware that this will be a long journey and that it can pass few months before sales start to kick in and that’s the risk I am ready to take. Nice tips here, Steve. I’ve been a huge fan of YouTube for niches other than IM-related stuff. Apart from a few outliers, my Blogging Bookshelf and The Backlight videos never got too many views. How do your SSS vids fare? My Amazopia videos, though, have 220,000+ views now and are the main source of traffic for the blog. And I know you’ve said in the past that you get lots of YouTube traffic for your main niche.

You should also re-tweet interesting information related to your industry, share cool videos, or anything useful. Twitter isn’t all about driving sales and traffic to your website – it’s about gaining a loyal following. Sure, a promo tweet about your business every now and then is completely acceptable, you should simply avoid doing it all the time. When you share highly relevant, useful, entertaining, or helpful information, you not only gain more followers, but people will check out your profile. That’s where much of your website traffic will come from. So just provide high quality info and the rest is easy.
Before you can expect people to follow you, it is important that you build yourself some credibility. Find those in your industry and begin following them. If you’re an affiliate marketer, for example, you can start following all of the companies you promote. But you should also follow individual people such as experts in your field. For example, I have a website called DogFoodInsider.com. On my twitter page (@DogFoodScoop), I follow all of the major dog food companies as well as popular dog experts such as Dr. Karen Becker and Cesar Milan. I also follow dog nutritionists, pet food stores, dog breeders, and anyone else involved with dogs. I’ll even follow random people who are clearly dog lovers and post a lot about their dogs.
