Facebook is the second most popular social media platform in the world. As good as it sounds, it’s not the most affiliate marketing-friendly platform, but you can still find a way to promote your links there. Set up an official page for your website if for some reason you don’t have one yet. Facebook allows you to put a lot of information about your website, so use it: let people who stumble upon your page by accident know who you are and what you do.
This is so well put together, thank you! I’ve been spinning my wheels trying to figure out what affiliates to work with in my niche. My target audience is bloggers, and much of my content is free knowledge on how to grow a blog, but pushing a sale is just not what I want to do. But with this list I can really see that there are a lot of options to choose from. I do have an account with shareasale already, so I’m going to start there and see what other companies will work for my audience!
Possibly the most important demographic you could factor in while shaping your affiliate strategy is age. Affiliate marketing means continuously trying to incorporate the newest marketing trends into your gameplan, but this money is as useless as data without analysis if you aren’t reaching the right audience on the right platform. In a study conducted by Envision Creative, around 90% of 18 to 29 year-olds interact with social media in some way, shape or form. It follows that success with millenials equals a continued need for staying up to date with new social media marketing trends. When targeting younger demographics as an affiliate, think about launching incentive programs for those customers who refer others to your business or product. These pseudo “loyalty programs” serve as extremely effective digital word-of-mouth. Also consider offering discounted services or products for promotion on social media.

StudioPress itself is somewhat of a niche product as it is targeted to existing WordPress users who found setting up and managing a WordPress site too difficult or time-consuming. StudioPress prides itself on being easy to use, but their main claim to fame is that their hosted websites are “faster and more secure” than other WordPress hosting companies as well as using the “Genesis framework” which is supposedly more SEO friendly than other WordPress builds.
Create threads and Facebook groups, hang out on forums and engage in relevant discussions. Don’t forget to respond to comments and tweets, involve your community in a conversation. And don’t be shy to use this repost/retweet button when you see someone else’s post that you like. All of this will make you visible to more people and will bring you more followers.
Become an iTunes Affiliate. Apple has an affiliate program that allows affiliate marketers to earn 4% to 5% commission of the sale of songs on iTunes that come from their affiliate links. iTunes has historically accounted for a significant portion of affiliate marketing activity on Twitter, and a number of individuals have had success with this affiliate program across various platforms.
When using social media for affiliate marketing, you should always stop and focus on your content first. Do your posts have the ability to stand on their own regardless of your affiliate link? Do they provide something of value to your audience? Do they grab attention? Using the right education and finesse, you can learn how to really rope in your social media platform audiences, and demand their attention with high quality and interesting content.
The only way we can make a difference in your quantitative analysis is by changing the commission we offer, but we find we can really go the extra mile elsewhere. I see twitter as a way to network, socialize with friends, and stay more in touch with readers. I don’t want to start trying to turn it into a directly monetized venture. I think the risks of alienating people is too high and the potential monetary gain not all great.

If you want an informative breakdown of whether you should buy something or not, The Wire Cutter is an amazing resource. Their Twitter feed links directly to these reviews along with great pictures, and it’s easy to see why they have more than 80k followers — they are a major player in affiliate marketing.

The main distinction now between affiliate and influencer marketing is simply the channel itself and the way the influencer is paid. Affiliate marketing sees affiliates paid based on web traffic performance (CPA) while influencer marketing sees influencers often paid flat fees upfront in return for social traffic performance. Brands now have visibility into the same metrics for both strategies and can access indicators of performance and traffic via Google Analytics for web-based publishers and Instagram Insights for social based publishers. Despite these similarities, influencer and affiliate marketing are still referred to as two separate strategies and are often managed by different teams in the same organization.
They want to ensure that anytime you share something you want your followers to buy, they’re aware that you may have other motives than simply being helpful (i.e., making money). And their “naked links” allow for direct connection to the merchant website without having to be rerouted via LinkConnector, which will give your website an SEO boost.

Remaining active helps to keep your audiences on board, and no matter what platforms you use, communicating and posting regularly is important. For this reason, it’s also important not to oversaturate yourself by using too many social media platforms, as juggling all of these different audiences effectively without inadvertently neglecting your audiences can be difficult. In order to remain optimally active, first focus on just one or two social media platforms, and when you become more comfortable posting and communicating actively with both, only then take on another to make sure your audiences are well taken care of. A great way to remain active and stay that way is to set aside a couple of hours each day and dedicate this time to your social media affiliate marketing efforts.

If you simply sign up to Twitter, buy a lot of followers and then begin spamming affiliate links every day we can tell you now that you won’t make any money. Affiliate marketing is a long-term effort and you need to create quality content first and then promote your affiliate links later. Anyone who does the reverse of this just won’t generate any income.
Plan your video before you make it. Rambling is one way to make a long, over-saturated video that can cause your bounce rate to sky rocket (people clicking off the video). Make a script to follow (but give yourself for some improvisation) and also don't be afraid to cut out content you think is uninteresting or not relevant. No one wants to hear about your Gran's sixtieth birthday bash on a video unboxing the latest sneakers.

The researchers next investigated the text of content with affiliate links and analyzed whether they made any disclosures about their economics to users. Among content that had affiliate links, 10.49% of YouTube videos and 7.03% of pins on Pinterest had disclosures. Worse, the disclosure language recommended by the FTC was only included on roughly 2% of affiliated content across the two platforms.


Don’t forget to post your affiliate pins to your OWN personal boards! When I share my affiliate pins, I start with my own relevant boards because they’re better optimized for SEO than my group boards. I carefully write my board descriptions to optimize them for keywords. Technically speaking, you don’t even need to share pins to group boards if you have well-optimized personal boards with high repin rates. The advantage of group boards is that they help you expand your reach.


That’s right, although you might see YouTubers using much nicer (and expensive equipment) such as Pat Flynn, this is not a requirement. In fact, we highly recommend you use what you have first to decide if using YouTube for affiliate marketing is a strategy you like. If not, then you won’t have wasted any money. As with everything else, I don’t recommend you put time and effort into anything unless you actually enjoy it. Play to your strengths! If it is something you enjoy, though, then you can make an informed decision on what equipment you might want to upgrade to eventually.
They need a shopify plan (first 2 weeks are free, so if they do their store within one week they could actually get started for under $50, maybe less), They need a faceboob business account, which is free, and a budget of $5 per day for like 7 days (35$) to start promoting their products. As soon as they make sales, the money is directly in their paypal account (if using paypal), or there is a small deley to get their money in their bank account if they use shopify payments for example.
Twitter isn't just for posting notifications of new articles and content, or affiliate programs. You will build up followers if you're sure to post additional tweets (Twitter messages) that start or continue a conversation. This makes you and your site seem more "human" and caring, and improves your image, if done right. Just keep the ranting and raving out of your timeline.
The downside is that Shopify is only appealing for people who have physical or digital products to sell and have a need to set up a Shopify store, including site hosting, payment processing, and all the other services offered by Shopify. This can significantly narrow the appeal for this affiliate program. But if you can distinguish yourself by educating people on how to use Shopify, how it can benefit their business, and/or make them money, you could potentially big money via the affiliate program. Add in the 2 x monthly fee commission rate, and landing just a few sales of their mid-tier and top-tier products can result in significant earnings.
This is a fairly general Twitter tip but it applies to affiliate marketing. If you’re going to promote a product on Twitter make sure it’s highly useful to your followers. This is connected to being relevant – but goes beyond it. I find that the more useful my Twittering is the more positive feedback I get from followers. The same is true from blogging and interestingly enough it applies to the products I’ve promoted over the years. The best feedback that I can possibly get after an affiliate product campaign is from someone who bought the product and thanks me for recommending it because they found it useful. To me this is the ultimate feedback because it means I’ve not only made a little money, but more importantly I have a reader who is happy, who remains loyal and who is perhaps even more loyal than they were before I made the recommendation. This really comes down to smart selection of products to recommend – make sure that they are the best!
