People love to buy…we love to consume great content. However, we have to be warmed up before we do it. On social networks, it’s the relationships that sell, not the message. It’s really up to you, though. You can spam people and make a quick buck (maybe), or you can build credibility and build a successful business. In my opinion, taking the latter route is much more efficient.
While you need to be careful about sharing photos under a copyright protection, you can still find many copyright free images. For example, you can go to Google Images, click on the little gear icon in the upper right corner, click on “advanced search” then only show images that are not protected by copyright. In almost every industry, you will be able to find a ton of images you can use or even edit for your own purposes.
This one's for the gamers out there.. the Nintendo Creators Program works much like any other affiliate program, whereby you receive a cut of every commission Nintendo receives from your YouTube videos, so long as those videos are Nintendo-related. It was designed for any youtuber that uses Nintendo copyrighted content in their videos, as a way to give back to the creators. The entire program is run through paypal, which may put some off, but should give you peace of mind that your transactions are safe. You have a choice between registering your entire channel, or just individual videos and the advertisement revenue share is 70% for entire channels and 60% for videos.
I recommend that you start with affiliate marketing first in order to identify the vertical/product that you want to pursue. You’ll realize that attributing commission directly to a specific link is difficult to do, so to gain the insights that will help you best optimize your campaign, you need to be clever. One way is to test a single variation per week – for example only post photos to Facebook at 3pm, then measure the commission earned that for week. The following week do the same, but post at 3pm on Twitter. You could also use bit.ly links to track the click-throughs on social networks that otherwise don’t provide you with these insights (I’m looking at you, Twitter). In this way, you’ll slowly build a picture of which programs are profitable, and which are a waste of time.
