By following a few simple rules, tips, and tricks, even a social media novice can master the art of social media for affiliate marketing. Social media has been designed to be user friendly and not too complex, and this rings true whether you’re just posting your vacation photos for your friends and family, or if you’re posting the affiliate link for a product you believe in and want to share with your followers. Using these tried and tested methods can ensure that you’re using social media for affiliate marketing to the best of its capabilities, and therefore also gain all the benefits that go along with it.
According to eBizMBA, Twitter has more than 3 hundred million estimated unique monthly visitors. If you’re feeling disappointed with Facebook, I have good news for you! On Twitter, you can tweet every 15 minutes – that’s an average lifespan of a tweet. In fact, it’s recommended to tweet no less than five or ten times every day. But the general rule still stands – you can’t expect to make money on Twitter by tweeting sales pitches every 15 minutes – you need to build a relationship. And after you establish a Twitter presence, you can link to relevant affiliate offers without having to worry about getting unfollowed or blocked.
So instead of paying all this overhead up-front, you tell your mom who has a weekly book club that if she mentions your lemonade to her friends and sells a cup, you’ll give her 5 cents for each 25 cents you earn. This way, there is less risk (since there are less up-front costs), and you only pay out the commission if and when your mom actually sells a cup.

If you want to sell on Twitter, you have to build relationships and create targeted lists based on interests. Once you learn how to build these networks (which really is easy to do), you can link to relevant affiliate offers without having to worry about getting unfollowed or blocked. The key is to let the content, not a Tweet, do the selling. If everything you say on Twitter is a pitch of some sort, it won’t work. However, if you learn to be relevant and helpful, your random pitch will not only be noticed, but will be appreciated.
Second, it’s a good idea to create a few new personal boards that are used solely for the purpose of pinning products that are for sale (using your affiliate links of course). For example, I have created a personal board called “Gorgeous Throw Pillows and Bedding.” The description for the board is “This board is full of gorgeous throw pillows, accent pillows, decorative pillows, duvet covers, sheets and bedding. Changing your throw pillows and bedding is such an easy way to refresh any room on a budget!” I pin beautiful products to it and edit the urls of the pin to my affiliate links, using the process described above.

This is so well put together, thank you! I’ve been spinning my wheels trying to figure out what affiliates to work with in my niche. My target audience is bloggers, and much of my content is free knowledge on how to grow a blog, but pushing a sale is just not what I want to do. But with this list I can really see that there are a lot of options to choose from. I do have an account with shareasale already, so I’m going to start there and see what other companies will work for my audience!


For all the growth in affiliate marketing, the researchers found that less than 1% of videos and pins in their random sample had affiliate links attached to them. Some categories had a significantly higher percentage of affiliate links though, such as science and technology videos on YouTube which averaged 3.61% and women’s fashion on Pinterest, which had a rate of 4.62%.
PS.Since I’m a big advocate of Clickbank affiliate marketing but I have include Shareasale marketplace instead of Clickbank here. Just because, I have tried many times to promote some products from both of the networks and each time found success with Shareasale affiliate links. Pinterest did not allow to embed an affiliate link from Clickbank. (It is might be because of the nature of Clickbank Hoplinks)
StudioPress itself is somewhat of a niche product as it is targeted to existing WordPress users who found setting up and managing a WordPress site too difficult or time-consuming. StudioPress prides itself on being easy to use, but their main claim to fame is that their hosted websites are “faster and more secure” than other WordPress hosting companies as well as using the “Genesis framework” which is supposedly more SEO friendly than other WordPress builds.
Multiple Twitter Identities.  We have noticed that affiliates using Twitter often maintain multiple Twitter identities.  Based on data pulled for the second week in November 2011, 75% of the affiliates found on Twitter maintain more than one Twitter alias. They do this for several reasons:  to re-tweet their own posts under different user names in order to drive up a tweet’s popularity; to tweet the same thing over again without appearing redundant; and to follow themselves to ‘seed’ a follower list.
If you are using Twitter for your company or website, make sure your avatar is a high quality image of your logo or some other professional picture. It’s a small space so it should be easy to read and recognize. For individual bloggers, using a picture of yourself usually works best as it helps to make things more personable. With that said, make sure it’s cropped properly. Trying to show a picture of you with Mt. Everest in the background or a picture of you with your 12 cats in your living room isn’t going to cut it. Use the small amount of space you have available wisely.
A lot of people don't get Twitter. Perhaps they're put off engagement on the network by the endless slew of negative news about the activities of trolls (abusive people), sending angry, upsetting or annoying messages to other Twitter users. However, to really use social media to its maximum in promoting your affiliate programs, you need to be on Twitter, as we explored previously.
Keep conversations centered on the topic of your choice - in this case, related to your affiliate program - but don't be afraid to show a little of your personality in your tweets. Remember that as long as you don't offend or annoy anyone, people are way more likely to form a bond with a publisher who doesn't just push his or her affiliate programs, but also likes to educate, inform and entertain.

The only way we can make a difference in your quantitative analysis is by changing the commission we offer, but we find we can really go the extra mile elsewhere. We’ve spent lots of time making sure that the unique affiliate dashboards are as full of (regularly updated) content to help you in your efforts as much as possible, and I’m always personally available on the other end of an email if there are any problems. After all, the more success you have, the more we have – so we’re going to do everything we can to make that happen!
The easiest thing to do is to sign up for an affiliate marketing network like Commission Junction. They provide a marketplace where your affiliate program will be advertised to other affiliate marketers. They also provide the tracking software for your affiliates so you don’t have to build your own tracking system. In some ways this is better because it takes care of the trust issues. Affiliates are always suspicious of whether or not they’re getting credited for the sales they generate. By having an intermediary take care of transaction tracking and payments, the fear of being cheated is alleviated. 
Try and go through all the different options for products or services available through different marketing programs. Study them well and figure out which ones are best for the end users.  Next, try and put attractive logos or change the ad patterns and use different graphics and texts to see which are the most expensive. Working on all this might take some time but you can figure out the best way.
Over the weekend I learned that my neighbor wants to become an affiliate marketer. He’s a contractor. Though he earns a good living through his work, he’s been learning WordPress and would like to take a shot at building an affiliate site. It got me thinking. There is an ocean of information available for how to do affiliate marketing, but there are not a lot of affiliate trainers I trust enough to recommend to my neighbor.

The idea is that it is tied to any content that your target audience is consuming every single day.

If you’re scratching your head wondering what affiliate marketing is, no worries! I, too, had never heard of affiliate marketing until about 9 months ago. Now, it’s one of my main sources of income. In a nutshell, affiliate marketing is when you promote the products of other companies to earn a commission on sales. Let’s say you love MAC Cosmetics and run a makeup blog. Second, you need to nurture your email list. Michelle didn’t even start an email list until she had been blogging for 2-3 years and only began focusing heavily on it last year. Those email subscribers are your loyal followers, your tribe. They are the ones who want what you have to offer and will become your customers when you are ready to sell something, whether that’s through creating a product or through affiliates.
One of the prime reasons that social media is highly preferred because it does not demand any cost, at least for the basic features. You just need to create an account, add your group (family & friends), become familiar with the features and follow those people, who have the same interests like you. These platforms are free of charges, but you are supposed to invest both time and efforts. You need to run your social media campaigns for three (3) months approximately and you are required to devote hours for it.

Affiliate marketing isn’t the only strategy to have evolved recently. Influencer marketing has undergone a makeover of its own, becoming more transparent, more streamlined and more effective. If you have felt in the past that influencers do not offer the same transparency or sales-driven results as affiliate publishers, you might be pleasantly surprised by recent updates and changes in the industry.
