Second, you need to nurture your email list. Michelle didn’t even start an email list until she had been blogging for 2-3 years and only began focusing heavily on it last year. Those email subscribers are your loyal followers, your tribe. They are the ones who want what you have to offer and will become your customers when you are ready to sell something, whether that’s through creating a product or through affiliates.
While you need to be careful about sharing photos under a copyright protection, you can still find many copyright free images. For example, you can go to Google Images, click on the little gear icon in the upper right corner, click on “advanced search” then only show images that are not protected by copyright. In almost every industry, you will be able to find a ton of images you can use or even edit for your own purposes.
The tricky thing with Instagram is that it doesn’t allow links in your posts. I mean, you can put a link in your post, it just won’t work. Of course, you can tell your audience to copy and paste, but that would mean they have to copy the link, close Instagram, go to their browser… Too much work! It’s much easier to click a link and be done with it.
As an affiliate marketer, you want to promote products that are actually useful for people. Recommend a substandard product and see your reputation get marred. This is a world where messages spread at the speed of light, so you must be careful at what you are getting your hands into. It’s a good strategy to use the product first to get an idea about how it works and then promote it. Your message will seem much more genuine then.
Social media is one of the most powerful tools we’ve gained in today’s modern technological age, and this goes for marketing and beyond. With mindful use, social media for affiliate marketing can be an invaluable tool to your affiliate marketing success, as well as your networking with other fellow affiliate marketers. In such a socially driven business, this networking aspect is an important one, and one that isn’t often thought of but is benefitted from greatly.
Posts without value are posts that will cause your audience to lose interest and the goodwill of your audiences, rendering your efforts of using social media for affiliate marketing useless. For example, on my social media platforms I like to have 80% of my posts as entertainment or education purposes only and only 20% of my posts have anything to do with promotions.
Besides affiliate links, publishers can get access to tracking reports (clicks, sales, impressions), additional promotional materials (banners, copy, email templates) inside the retailer’s affiliate platform. These platforms also handle commission payments so publishers can expect to be paid around the same time each month, usually by Paypal or direct deposit.
