Hi Peter, I personally have never tried promoted pins on Pinterest but it’s on my to-do list. I’ve heard mixed reviews (they made some changes back in June or July on ads that seem to favour bigger companies). I have heard however that if you promote a pin, your whole account gets a bit of a lift. I would definitely recommend giving it a go with a small dollar amount to see if it works, I think I will try too and will report back!
To summarize, the benefit of using an affiliate network to find affiliates suitable to your product niche is that you already have access to a pre-built audience of quality affiliates, ranking them among some of the best affiliate programs. The perk of creating your own ecommerce affiliate program, on the other hand, is that you have more control over it and will likely pay fewer fees. Keep in mind that the downside of creating an ecommerce affiliate program from scratch is that you’ll need to find your own affiliates, which can be a challenging aspect of affiliate marketing for beginners. Fortunately, if you already have a substantial customer base, you can also allow your customers to be affiliates as influencers, a common trend on blogs or platforms like Instagram. This can even help turn them into evangelists for your brand.
Each site has its own distinct customer base, and is used for different purposes. Facebook is a platform which helps to connect with a diverse client base that is looking for some entertainment. Twitter is a place where people go to check out what’s trending and exploring the hottest topics in their area. I have now done three courses on Affiliate Marketing and can recommend all three so if you want to check out each of these in more details here are the links to have a look at. I like them all for different reasons and its up to do which ones you choose they all cover the basics but I would say Makingsense of affiliate marketing probably is the most in-depth and comprehensive but it depends on how much you want to go into it each has different tips but essentially each course covers the basics.
That’s right, although you might see YouTubers using much nicer (and expensive equipment) such as Pat Flynn, this is not a requirement. In fact, we highly recommend you use what you have first to decide if using YouTube for affiliate marketing is a strategy you like. If not, then you won’t have wasted any money. As with everything else, I don’t recommend you put time and effort into anything unless you actually enjoy it. Play to your strengths! If it is something you enjoy, though, then you can make an informed decision on what equipment you might want to upgrade to eventually.
I’ve been pretty intentional about what types of products that I share with my audience, but one thing that I struggled with is that I didn’t want to come off as “salesy.” Because of this I included less affiliate links in posts or avoided different types of posts that I thought would be too pushy. This is where rule number one really comes into play. If you’re sharing affiliate links on your Facebook Page, make sure they’re few and far between.

It would make ZERO sense for me to randomly speak about a kitchen organizer and link an affiliate link to that on my channel – but – it would make #allthesense for me to include a small testimonial for a new app I’m loving for business and include an affiliate link.
Affiliate marketing is about the here-and-now, and nothing is ever set in stone in an industry revolving around online advertising. For this reason, you shouldn't be afraid of using instantaneous communication tools like Twitter for the kinds of promotions that are only open for a short time. When you do, make sure you tweet the advertiser in your tweet. This way, you might get a retweet and increase your traffic!
